Today was a BUSY day!
I did errands and grocery shopping early in the morning. Then I spent the better part of the day in the kitchen- cooking. I made homemade dog food (ground beef, peppers, spinach, broccoli and a few blueberries) and liver dog treats. That went into our brand new freezer! I cut up a huge amount of vegetables for the week: celery, broccoli, cauliflower, Brussel Sprouts, peppers. I roasted potatoes and cauliflower and made two loaves of meatloaf- which I put into containers for the freezer for a few dinners over the week.

My daughter graduated from University two weeks ago. What an accomplishment.
I thought I would do a few comparisons. This is me on the left, 29 years ago, when I graduated from Nursing School. I was two weeks shy of 23 years old. My daughter, on the right, is 23 and just finished her architectural history degree. This is my dad and me when I was 7 or 8. He died when I was 12.
November 14, 1922 - June 22, 1979 RIP 39 years without my dad. In August of 2011, my daughter, her friend and myself did a bike ride around the Greater Niagara Circle Route. Quite an accomplishment for me. It was fun.....ish.
On Dec 25, 1994, I became a MOM to a sweet baby girl. 🎉It has been the hardest, most fun and rewarding job that I have had. In 23 years, she has grown into a smart, talented, enthusiastic, loud, funny, opinionated, (did I say loud??) woman who is self-reliant but still needs guidance at times!
My own Mom passed away 18 years ago. Miss you, Mom!! In Remembrance of my Mom and all the other Moms who are no longer with us, and in honour Moms everywhere and of the children who have made us Moms and Step-Moms, have a Happy Day!!!🌺🌷🌹🌼🌻 A fun evening with two woman who I have know since Kindergarten! I started The Happiness Project in 2012. Anyone who doesn’t know what this is, it can be found http://gretchenrubin.com/books/the-happiness-project/about-the-book/
I gave the One Sentence Journal to my daughter for Christmas 2011. My hubby thought it was cool so I bought him one too and decided to try it myself as well. There is space to write something that made me happy every day for 5 years. Well, five years later, it is finished. The close of 2016 made my journal complete. Have I kept up with writing?? Yes, I did! Most days, I wrote a small sentence about something I did that day that made me feel happy. Often it was about my daughter, my hubby or my dogs (my favourite things!). Often it was about naps and getting enough sleep! Or relaxing. Sometimes it was about my friends and family Admittedly, there were days (very few, luckily) that had few positive things but the sun still shone and that is always a good thing. I did tend to write a lot of what I DID, instead of how it made me feel or a HAPPY thing. |
